Along with the OS, the built-in programs are really good from my experience!

I use Mint myself. Text editor Xed makes it easy to read various text formats, LibreOffice is a very reliable set of document tools, and there's even a PDF reader.

genAI is good to avoid - and the benefits go well beyond!
