Spanish resources I've found most useful, excluding the obvious (YT, podcasts, Netflix):

RTVE: (equivalent of BBC) using a VPN.
HelloTalk: video calls or DMs with other learners or native speakers
Langua: AI chat. Bit pricy but IMO the most effective tool once you pass a certain proficiency

I gave up on Duolingo shortly before my 2000 day streak because they introduced a terrible new system that meant paying was all but compulsory. Content had also become lower quality and there was less freedom within lessons as well as in the order you could take them. Classic enshittification.

This is very true. Learning and practice should be 90% feeling pissed off, punctuated by brief Eureka moments. Even more so for things involving motor skills (instruments, sports, crafts).

What makes it even more annoying is there has been a concerted political effort, and investment, at local level to make cities and towns more bike friendly. The fact the police have no interest in following up theft or burglary just goes to undermine such efforts by stunting take-up

You lot can only beat Farage by the spirit of the law. Whatever you think of his ends, he has sought to achieve them by democratic means, while actual extremism is ascendant and tastes of the latent violence brewing become a summer perennial. This kind of sniper journalism is counter-productive.
