There are times, when I think that an electrical screwdriver might be a good investment... 🪛 #futureproject

My hotel room is "modular"? Should I try? 😸

I usually take a few days off after a con; this time I am in Hannover again. 👋

Yeah... YouTube changed stuff indeed; As @adriansdigitalbasement.com noted, something seems to have changed recently and it is rather depressing for creators; both those who make a living from it and those who do it as a hobby. I wonder where they are directing the views now?

Little known fact: Stage Hands also has feet! Can you tell that he was working oudoor today? #summertime

Attended day 1 of "Vienna Comix" today - which kind of doubles as a fur meet by now. The group pictures are getting more challenging for sure! #viennacomix #furry

Rate my botch? But hey: it works!

Strange... It shows weird diode junction values that make me think it's broken, but it apparently still does "transistory things"... #electronics

Look what I found! It arrived recently: An almost complete set of the TTL Pocket Guide I had back in the 90s. I am still kicking myself for loosing it over time. But since I only had the first two volumes, it's not as bad a loss... #MoreOnMastodon

PSA: I never seen a button cell explode before... but it seems to happen. Found one half in another compartment in my sorting tray, so it clearly must have jumped during the "incident". Not sure if it shorted out against something in there or not, but it would be the most likely cause IMHO.

Day 24 - Merry Christmas! Watch out for the magic smoke! 😉 #TWAAC

Day 23 - And finally - since so many of you asked - here's what an (almsot) cleaned up workspace aroud here looks like. Picture taken during a live streaming test session. I really need to do more of these, but time is a very limiting factor... #TWAAC

Day 22 - And a nifty HP chip. This one is actually a combination of several OpAmps for signal conversion. #TWAAC
December 22, 2024 at 7:46 AM
Day 21 - Interesting way of populating resistors... This gem was found inside the Tektronix 1503 TDR. #TWAAC

Day 20 - First signs of life! The Sinclair MTV-1 shows that it might become a functioning TV again! #TWAAC
December 20, 2024 at 10:35 AM
Day 19 - A bit of electronic lewdness. In this unit, which looks similar to the Fluke Calibrator for nooooo particular reason, the PCBs are normally shielded and wrapped. For a first test, I omitted the shielding and present this nude picture! #TWAAC

Day 18 - Creative high impedance circuitry. Yes. Those are indeed two 100MOhm resistors in series. On the input! That is in the 8375A attenuator. #TWAAC
December 18, 2024 at 10:39 AM
Day 17 - Another upcoming project. A bundle of coaxial cables had a fault in two of them. You can see that little dot between the tips of the tweezers? That's the core poking through where it tore. #TWAAC
December 17, 2024 at 4:27 AM
Day 16 - Fluke calibrator again: the 1 ohm precision resistor. Used for current sensing (hence the size and heat sink) as well as the 1 ohm reference output. It's slightly higher to allow a trim pot in parallel. These seem to be hand picked. #TWAAC
December 16, 2024 at 5:50 AM
Day 15 - I tried to save the calibration RAM of an HP meter before swapping out the draining battery. Alas, I accidentally hooked the "write enable" line to ground instead of 5V, so instead of reading the RAM, I wrote to it... so... successfully backed up a lot of zeros. Hmpf!... #TWAAC
December 15, 2024 at 6:57 AM
Day 14 - Ah... multi-tap transformers! What a joy! This one is from the Tek 576 curve tracer. #TWAAC
December 14, 2024 at 5:34 AM
Day 13 - NiCd battery pack, 40 years later. This is the 18 Sub-C-cell pack from the Fluke donor unit for the 893A... #TWAAC
December 13, 2024 at 4:18 PM
Day 12 - The RF stage of an incoming project (at the time of writing) - note the "hardlines" for the signals instead of soft coax cables. This one was the first with those for me. #TWAAC
December 12, 2024 at 3:04 AM
Day 11 - The Fluke 893A differential voltmeter, prior restoration. Note the scratches in the front panel that made me go for a full repaint. #TWAAC
December 11, 2024 at 5:56 AM
Day 10 - The HP µLab - Take 2! Power on test (missing buttons!) to check if there's any electronics work that needs doing. #TWAAC
