Recreational USTA league/tournament play is all organized by skill level. And UTR ratings are genderless. People (any people) will be playing against other players at their same level. This is such a dumb transphobic and cowardly policy.

And I cited the 2024 announcement showing they’ve already done all the studies and agreed something has to be done, which is why the road is slated for road diet and conversion. But also they say nothing can be done.

Well they had a big press showing and announced the 2-way conversions and road diet for Delaware in 2024, and the DPW website now lists this as complete in 2032…. So just a short 8 years from the announcement! I’ll have a flying car by then, so….

Money's good.. but I also think more visibility adds to safety and just public visibility of public transit use. Nice to see inside a bus or train as you board it. So, not mad about no advertising on the glass.

One of the hazards of owning a car in a very walkable/train-able city is my car sat most of the week… Boston’s Back Bay is beautiful, but its alleys are full of trash bags and was a perfect location for rats to move into my car’s engine and eat all the wiring. Nailed my neighbor twice.

… people who do follow the 35mph speed limit will “become speeders” if you drop the limit to 25. The email exchanges with our city councilor (who copied a bunch of DPW people also… ) was enough to make me want to leave the city (almost).

35mph actually equals 60+mph when you have 3 one-way lanes that allow all the passing lanes you’d ever want. Asked the city (councilor and DPW) about lowering this to 25, and was told it won’t matter because speeders will always speed, they have no enforcement, and my favorite…

Very similar thoughts about N Delaware, which is 25mph downtown on stretches of the road w empty lots and empty buildings and no people, but switches to 35mph north of I-65 to Fall Creek in what should be a quiet residential neighborhood where the street is lined with homes and small businesses.

Literally know Catholics that protested Harry Potter movies/books when they were first released because they’d turn the children into pagans. Can’t even look at them as fictional entertainment. There is no tolerance.

I’ve lived in Indy for about 9 months, and my constant feeling is that this city hates people. These charts support my theory and observations. Indy does love asphalt and overgrown abandoned fields though!

Having lived in Atlanta ("City in a Forest" 🌳) most of my life before coming to Indy, I'm constantly wondering... where are all the trees? Maybe it's the winters? But no... it's Indy. The city that loves dried up grass.. and torn up asphalt.

Rode Boston’s T daily for 4 years. It felt safe generally and felt even safer when there were lots of people on the train. Focus on better times and frequencies, faster travel, convenient access, affordability. That will bring people. More people is more safety and perception of safety.
