I was reflecting on this page of "Big Joe's Trailer Truck" (by Joe Mathieu. Random House, 1974.) and wondering why diners have this distinctive look. Looked at Wikipedia and found out that some of the earliest ones were re-purposed train dining cars!

Don't even act like you have any secrets from me, WITCHES. I learned all about you from a MAGAZINE I saw at the GROCERY STORE.

Children's television can truly be such a realm of nightmares.

I finished this a while ago!
3 stockings, each embroidered in a geometric style inspired by Japanese sashiko embroidery. One is embroidered with navy blue thread, and is the completed version of the one seen in the post above. There is a similar one in green, and one in red, making a not-matching-but-coordinating set

I spent a ridiculously long time trying to wrap my head around how this pattern works, but as soon as I got the first few stitches in, I was like, hell yeah.

Frosty morning in Regina, revealing some hitherto unseen hard work by the spider community

It is delicately hung with white frost a small frost-covered spiderweb hangs, partially detached from the metal fence bars it is hanging from a spiderweb hangs across the entrance of a parking garage. The frost-covered web has a strong contrast against the solid utilitarianism of its surroundings. Which is interesting to me, because the spiderweb is sturdy and utilitarian as well, in its own way!

And in yet a third completely different style (despite being quite geographically close to Hollow Water, here is Black River First Nation, aka Makadewaagamijiwanoonsing. I wish I knew more about Indigenous art so I could appreciate this even more.

I would just like to take a moment to appreciate the logo design from some first nations, because I feel like city flags need to take note. First up: Thunderchild First Nation. If I am reading wikipedia right, the design is by an artist named Mitch Angus

Went on a road trip to visit family and ended up doing some roof work to help out my aunt. My best friend took one look at the picture and said "looks like you and your Dad went up there to escape a family gathering" and honestly, she has never been more correct
