We are now at a point where co-workers are actively avoiding enabling LLMs in their spaces. I no longer doubt my job could be pretty majorly automated if not entirely. Which without proper payout for me and my colleagues would be a death sentence to my personal 5-10 year plan. 🧵 1/2

Releasing LLM's with open weights by companies like Meta's Llama 3 seems like good optics. When in fact I am curious if these models are what allow the mega corps to layoff so many engineers. Speculation of course, but good conversation fodder, no?

If only the function that selected my awareness could be articulated to me. I wish to effectively serve the end that I represent, and I am reluctant to say it is my own whim. Why my genes? Could I ever know? Maybe it's a purpose only told by living life itself to be understood at a later date.

Technically, if everyone can publish, and we read a significantly wider set of perspectives than ever before. Doesn't it naturally follow that a sort of psychic entropy will of course increase?

Let's not celebrate a person's death, regardless of their role in a shitty system.
