January 27th is International Day of Commemoration of Victims of the Holocaust Day. I remember Jane Hainings the Scottish Missionary who died in Auschwitz. Her crime? Helping girls in the Jewish Mission School in Budapest and standing up to bullies. 💐

Assipatle had only one sister who was older and protected him from the worst of his brother’s teasing. She listened to Assipatle‘s stories that he saw in the embers of the fire. But she had been called to serve in the King’s palace leaving Assipatle to find comfort in the company of his friends…

Assipatle was pale and slender. Some say he was beautiful. His brothers mocked him cruelly, laughing at his sagas and dreams. They told him he had lady’s hands because they did no work. Unperturbed, Assipatle continued to lie in the ashes by the peat fire and danced naked in the sun on the meadow

In the far north of that land in the north was a farm lying beside the sea. Assipatle lived on the farm with his father and six older brothers. The six brothers helped their father work the farm and they were strong and sturdy as a result. Assipatle was lazy and lay by the fire all day long dreaming

Not long after time began, there was a land in the North with fertile farms and bountiful seas. A happy and prosperous people lived together in harmony, ruled over by a benevolent King. Life was hard but the people worked hard to provide food for each other and no one went hungry.

In the open sea, water becomes something more than a simple element... the elegance of the lines and waves suspend the swimmer in a sophisticated allure that the artist John La Forge amazingly depicts in all its splendor...the artwork becomes a sublime poetry written by paintbrushes and lights...
