I also recently got back into yugioh after a more than decade hiatus. Currently running Cyber Dragon and it's doing pretty well, it just needs a few more cards to be fully optimized. (playing at locals).

Might be worth checking out Edison format if you want to play more "Old School"

I think it's a good start yeah, it time jumps a bit but overall it gets you to a good spot
