Shimon Rawidowicz had strong feelings about this. I think this is why the reassessment of the history of the interactions between Jews in Palestine and in various other places is so crucial- bc there is a felt and theorized sense that the Land of Israel is different, just not in nationalist terms

I understand you said that and it sounds great but how does that actually work? governments decide where state money goes, how could anything be beyond partisan reach?

So government funding, while obviously a great thing, is no cure all when the government is biased to say the least

I can tell you from my experiences in Germany that we’re on the other side of this dynamic- privately funded spaces are the only places where Palestine discourse is occasionally tolerated, as the publicly funded institutions (which in Germany are the majority) hold to the state line of Zionism
