And if users can’t even monetize then it’s just for fun? Target audience will have to be 7 year olds. Does seem bad for Disney all around

Ultimately though I can easily see how this can backfire for Disney so I only really see it as a win for Open AI. As time goes on they could pull the rug out from under Disney using their data to decentralize and create their own competitive stream if users prefer the fun of the tech over the IP

Probably think it’ll just help both D+ and Open AI grow and they’ll see good roi. For Open Ai theyll probably get all the popular character data imaginable and encourage others to use their api if this works well. Since it’ll prob be D+ only and just 3 years Disney feels they’re in control

The most realistic thing to do is reduce the amount of harm we do to one another as much as we can even if we consume guilty pleasures from time to time. Very strong of you to do. But as mentioned, it’s more than just JK. Basically anything Disney and Marvel for starters and that already covers most of our childhoods. Without being disingenuous, the majority of people will separate art and company. And in Legacy’s case JK isn’t creator just ip owner

There are millions of games. There aren’t millions you have an emotional attachment to since childhood and would give you something relief experiencing in the midst of everything going on in the world. I think people should be allotted a few “cheat-days” for their own mental health in dire times

Disney for example donates to republican lawmakers @ similar amounts. It might be pretty extreme to say let’s not buy Marvels Wolverine or play Rivals because of this. The difference is JKs big mouth making her the terf frontman, not her money, imo, which remains mostly unaffected regardless

But truth be told I’m most likely not buying it just because I think HP is not that good as opposed to thinking a video game is a threat against trans people. I’d understand if it were her gaming studio or something but she is just an IP owner. I’m willing to bet most big studios donate similarly

So realistically how much of my $10 is going towards her cheapskate 70k donation? Probably not much. AT&T reportedly donated like a million based on this google search. I’d personally just ignore JK posts, let people play what they want, and bring more awareness to the bigger threats as I am now

Now personally I’m not exactly boycotting or not boycotting as much as I just think Harry Potter is a trash property. I do think boycotts are effective. But I consider this one of the lesser important boycotts that won’t be very impactful overall. JK donated like 70k. Nothing compared to Legacy $$$$

There are a lot of possibly overlooked positives in supporting a project that’s inclusive even if the IP owner is the way that they are. Let’s consider if developers want to create more diverse games but lose that opportunity because boycotts communicate the wrong message to studios for example

I’m not a HP fan and I don’t like JK at all really. But the nuances with the inclusive developers, the ability to create a trans character, trans relatives owning it, the positive reception, and so on definitely makes me open to at least considering it. Idk if this is the best way to advocate for 🏳️‍⚧️
