I really like where @remix.run is going in v3. So much less magic and using the platform for its strength.

Disclaimer: I designed and implemented ES6, custom elements, shadow dom, some "modern" dom apis (classList, template element, append, remove...), making EventTarget concrete etc...

I know this first hand. When I was a child, my entire community was branded as spies and sabateurs, justifying our internment inside barbed wire camps for years without due process, trial or charge.

Had a really fun time talking to @thdxr.com and Adam about @zero.rocicorp.dev, Replicache, and how (and why!?) I came to spend the majority of my career working on sync.

Hear the Rocicorp / Aaron backstory here:

Every now and then, I revisit @infrequently.org’s blog, and it’s always a moment of clarity. Despite his clashes with JS fwks, notably React, which I’ve been deeply involved with, he remains one of the most influential figures in how I understand the web and platform economics for nearly a decade.

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns.

100% of his salary is paid by WA state.

Speeding up the JavaScript ecosystem part 11 is here! This time we're looking at:

Speeding up the JavaScript ecosystem - Rust and JavaScript Plugins
Up until recently, supporting JavaScript in Rust based tools has been deemed not worth it. The main concern is the overhead of the de-/serialization cost when sending data back and forth. But there is...

I found this gem when I was looking through @dropboxofficial.bsky.social . Me and Emil (RIP 😢) made this back in 1999.

It brings back some great memories.

I miss you every day.

Stop embarrassing yourself and start the process of retiring. You are clearly too mentally flabby for this moment. Dems need a wartime leader and you weren't even a very good peacetime one.

Join me at React Miami to talk sync!

People become UI devs because they love making beautiful things. React won originally because it intensified that joy – distilled it – delivered more "creation buzz"/second. It did so by getting rid of a bunch of drudge work.

The most annoying problem for Zero's launch was what bug tracker to use.

GitHub is way too slow, and Linear doesn't have public bugs or permissions – both required for OSS projects.

This was driving me nuts, until I realized the only possible solution… ⏩
