I'm just a voice, pal - a most talented failure, borderline attractive from afar.
Host of ARTV. Poseur anarcho-punk. Occasional writer, programmer and editor. 3級 in Riichi Mahjong.
Formerly known as @TheArtylo and @ArtyloTV on the tweety.
Got my forge upgraded in Monster Hunter Dos. Maybe I should wrap up some loose ends in the village before I go back online. I made my money and my HRP.

“I don’t mean to be a prude, but I don’t necessarily know how to react. Anora is chiefly a tale of youth… the desire to live life full of vice and indulgence. Carpe diem.”

Just found the last rune I needed to open the QBJ3 art vault. It's pretty neat stuff. I do wish there were more in-development screenshots of the maps themselves. There's a couple of the start map that look really rad, but very little of the other ones. I'm sure the individual devs are posting some.

There’s something there, even if it isn’t accessible. It’s hard to imagine how the film might have turned out with someone like Peter O’Toole in the lead. An Englishman in America is alien enough, I suppose. But there’s only one man who can play Ziggy without the stardust."

A little thing I like about Bowie is whenever you look up pictures of The Thin White Duke, they're almost always in this stark high-contrast black-and-white. Just think how iron-clad that imagery is. A style-guide that everyone follows, but is never codified.

“You might know that I’ve been quite fond of Robert Pattinson’s now decade-long attempt to shake the glittery vampire typecast, and this film is no exception. [...] It’s no The Measure of a Man, but it is arguing something very similar, just with much less emphasis.”

A willingness to be so painfully open in front of someone you barely just met – is that something that we had and subsequently lost or is it actual honest-to-god fantasy?
I simply cannot tell.

Finished this gigantic word avalanche. I would say I've never wanted a bomb to drop over Moscow, so that I don't have to worry about all these Russians anymore, but that would be the third time this week.

A young man grasping at something he can never have. Coddling a light born out of delirium in a dark tunnel that has no end. An existential struggle, fuelled by passion for something illegitimate. Another life in a long lineage of men destroying themselves to find themselves, over and over.

The S04E07 of The X-Files is really great fiction. It's called "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man" and it both humanises and gives an edge to an already great character. Having him be an aspiring fiction writer, who would drop everything should he get the chance is fantastic. Really inspiring.

Perhaps a fitting choice for the last film of the year. Perhaps next time I encounter Agnès Varda in some other facet of her work, I’ll grow to appreciate her even more. So far, everything I’ve heard about her has been true and that reputation she holds is seemingly well-deserved.

Here's my thoughts on Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev.
I ended up truncating a lot of my first draft, as I'd gotten a bit too personal and a tad too introspective. If nothing else, it shows the film had a significant effect on me, despite me saying it's interesting, but not necessarily entertaining.
A review of Andrei Rublev (1966)
Andrei Rublev is a complicated film, which makes it hard to recommend to just anyone. It’d be safer on my part to assume that you specifically, as of right now, don’t have the patience, nor the desire...

it’s a time of year where people often feel isolated, alone & the shadows of the world seem closer. I’ve lost friends during this time of year, people who I know would have found the light again. just a reminder to reach out to friends, family or support organizations. just take that first step.
