i feel like ive landed on a really nice way to make score-chasing and level modifiers fun in Blitz - who knew all I had to do was just look at Halo skulls 💀👄💀 I've got a BIG ass system to architect first, but it's motivating to have faith in such an important design decision

some wip UI work for blitz! Each level is pre-designed but given to you in a random order every run with a random positive/negative modifier applied to it, making the experience and challenge different each time!

it's fun coming up with enemies that dont explicitly attack you, but pose a challenge in other ways. these dudes are real annoying when combined with other tanks >:D

solo game dev is hard man. it's not even the complexity of the work, just the TIME it takes to do it all. Powering through it tho— Blitz will take a while but I'm confident in the QUALITY it'll have.
next project i'll be doing *quite* a few things different though I'll just say😅

now that @halo.gg is being made in Unreal Engine, it seemed fun to reimagine what Spartan energy shields could look like with a fresh coat of paint — here's my take on some flashy shaders+vfx in engine! ⚡

alrighty done with Unreal for a bit now - heading back to Unity to work on Blitz! more tech art experiments to come in the future tho

I've got this exactly 1:1 now, cracked the last bit yesterday. I've mainly been spending time now just recreating the movement controller just for that extra ✨polish✨ haha

gonna do some side by side comparison vids + explanation tomorrow and wrap this up!

it took me a bit, but my approach here was actually (almost) totally wrong. Solid breakthrough tonight after spinning the camera around this building for like an hour straight lol

it's not a flat circle cutout, but a 3D spherecast. lemme cook a bit and then i'll ramble more 👀
