A golden pocketwatch with "Your time is running out" etched inside the lid. The Timepiece of Klorr is an Artifact magic item with charges acquired by stealing the lifespan of creatures it kills. The charges can be spent to cast Haste, Slow, and Time Stop, and it can (with diminishing returns) restore your youth. It's sentient and outwardly malevolent.

Some of my favourite magic items that I've ever designed for #dnd5e are the cracked items, powerful relics with equally deadly downsides that are worth the price if you use them correctly!

The Cracked Coin and Cracked Crown are my favourites.

The six "cracked" magic items: chalice, clock, coin, crest, crown, and crystal. They have a gold and red motif with gravity-defying cracks in them. Cracked Coin Wondrous Item, Rare (Requires Attunement) A coin split in twain by an old god’s weapon, this coin holds a spark of fickle luck. While the coin is on your person, you score a Critical Hit on a roll of 18, 19, or 20, and other creatures score a Critical Hit against you on an attack roll of 18, 19, or 20. Cracked Crown Wondrous Item, Rare (Requires Attunement) The crown of an old god. It holds a spark of godly potential. When you first attune to the crown, choose an ability score from among Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma. While you wear the crown, the chosen ability score increases by 2, as does your maximum for that score, and your Constitution score decreases by 2.

Indalamar's Bladestorm Level 4 Conjuration (Ranger, Warlock, Wizard) Casting Time: Action Range: Self Components: S, M (a shard of broken blade) Duration: Instantaneous You unleash a storm of metal shrapnel in a 30-foot-radius Emanation around you. Each creature you choose in the Emanation must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d6 Piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful save. A creature damaged by this spell loses 2d4 Hit Points at the start of each of its turns due to a bleeding wound. The target or a creature within reach can take an action to make a Wisdom (Medicine) check against your spell save DC. If the check succeeds, the wound closes. The wound also closes if the creature receives magical healing or if it or a creature within reach takes the Utilize action and expends a use of a Healer's Kit. Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The initial damage increases by 1d6 for each spell slot level above 4. Indalamar’s First Maneuver Level 2 Transmutation (Paladin, Wizard) Casting Time: Reaction, which you take immediately after rolling Initiative Range: 60 feet Components: V, S Duration: Instantaneous You briefly speed up or slow down a creature as it joins battle. One creature that you can see within range must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or you can roll 1d20 and replace the target's Initiative roll with the number rolled. Indalamar’s Piercing Blades Level 2 Conjuration (Ranger, Warlock, Wizard) Casting Time: Action Range: Self Components: V, S, M (a silver spearhead worth 25+ GP) Duration: Instantaneous You conjure a barrage of piercing weaponry. Each creature in a 15-foot Cone originating from you must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d6 Piercing damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful save. A creature damaged by this spell loses 1d4 Hit Points at the start of each of its turns due to a bleeding wound. The target or a creature within reach can take an action to make a Wisdom (Medicine) check against your spell save DC. If the check succeeds, the wound closes. Attract/Repel Level 2 Transmutation (Artificer, Druid, Sorcerer, Wizard) Casting Time: Action Range: 60 feet Components: S, M (a lodestone covered with iron filings) Duration: Instantaneous You beckon with your hand toward a creature that you can see within range, affecting them in one of the following ways: Attract. The target creature is pulled towards you a distance up to half the spell’s range. Repel. The target creature is pushed away from you a distance up to half the spell’s range. This effect can’t push a creature into a space beyond the spell’s range. A Huge or larger creature can make a Strength saving throw against the spell. On a successful save, it’s unaffected. Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The range increases by 10 feet for each spell slot level above 2. Tremolo Level 2 Evocation (Bard) Casting Time: Action Range: 60 feet Components: V, M (a scrap of sheet music) Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute You create a musical trill that fills a 10-foot-radius Sphere centered on a point that you can see within range. Each creature in the Sphere that can hear the sound must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target suffers these penalties for the duration. AC Reduction. The target has a -2 penalty to AC. Disadvantage. The target has Disadvantage on attack rolls and Dexterity checks. Speed Reduction. The target’s Speed is reduced by 10 feet. An affected creature can repeat its save at the end of each of its turns, ending the spell on itself on a success.

Got to see something I worked on on sale in store for the first time today. Being able to show family I'm holidaying with that my #ttrpg work actually exists is nice.

It was also nice to see local game stores actually stocking games other than D&D and Pathfinder.
