HELP ME with a new album wall theme! (pics for context)

holler with a weird phrase, an abstract concept, a poetic notion, a nonsense word, a graphic style, whatever ... bc all I can think of right now is hella literal, like "green" or "really big faces" lol

For the Unapologetic Weirdo / Cursed Bread by Sophie Mackintosh. A surreal, dread-filled novel of obsession and slow unraveling; queer and intense, with some of my favorite writing of the last few years. For those who like strange: Mariana Enriquez, Iain Reid, Pola Oloixarac.
November 30, 2024 at 7:26 PM
For the Big-Hearted Bestie / The Friend by Sigrid Nunez. A woman's best friend dies and leaves his aging Great Dane in her care; a novel of missing and rediscovering that reads like memoir in the best way. For fans of Splinters by Leslie Jamison & Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner.
November 30, 2024 at 7:26 PM
For the Chaotic Queen / Hera Lindsay Bird by Hera Lindsay Bird. Poetry for the girlies and the goblins: messy, hilarious, unhinged. A Fleabag-esque, Chappell Roan-y gem with idgaf Halle Butler, Melissa Broder, or Ottessa Moshfegh main character vibes.
November 30, 2024 at 7:26 PM
For the Heartsore Homie / Grief Is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter. A surreal, hybrid prose-poetry novel about loss and catharsis; a beautiful portrait of love and memory. I read this four times in a row and I'll read it every year for the rest of my life.
November 30, 2024 at 7:26 PM
For the Mega Meta-Head / If an Egyptian Cannot Speak English by Noor Naga. A multi-POV novel about addiction, entitlement, and colonialism in their direct and meta modes; by-turns cryptic, mimetic, and twisty. Shades of experimental, in the vein of Sheila Heti, Patricia Lockwood, and Jenny Offill.
