☝🏻 The 12 Nights of Yule is iffy in traditional pagan circles. It's a modern celebration combining ancient European cultures. Paganism is a living spiritual path that has evolved for thousands of years. A 21st century way of honoring the winter solstice season adds to it.

☝🏻 Tonight is liminal. We are moving from the dark half of the year into the light half. Deities from liminal spaces, such as Mother Hecate in my household, should be prayed to, invoked, and honored. Scottish traditions include burning Rowan twigs, invoking Cailleach, etc. 👇🏻

☝🏻 The winter solstice has been celebrated by every culture throughout human history. Specifically, Yule is an ancient festival by Norse and Germanic cultures. We feast, continue bonfires from last night, and honor death deities symbolizing the sun's long rebirth overnight. 👇🏻

☝🏻 This is a quiet, introspective night as opposed to the feasting and celebrating on the night of Yule itself. Mother's Night should be more deeply studied for more information, including the Norse interpretation and the Germanic archeological evidence.

☝🏻 Mother's Night honors the divine feminine through venerating ancestors (dísir) and goddesses (matronae). Time can be spent at the household altar dressing and lighting candles, praying, offering baked goods, storytelling, sharing meals with the dead, etc. 👇🏻

☝🏻 Night 1: Mother's Night, or Mōdraniht or Modranicht, dates back to Germanic and Anglo-Saxon traditions in Roman occupied areas. It can be the night before the winter solstice, actual solstice night, or sometimes Christmas Eve. It depends on personal preference. 👇🏻

Guys, just to clarify, I'm talking about Yule, not Christmas. In modern times, Yule is the neopagan mixture of various ancient European winter solstice celebrations that predate the birth of Christ.

☝🏻 The church still stands today. The third art piece is unfinished but it was our town center, which is still there too. It's 2025 and I still miss this home. What do you think of these?
