He is, indeed, a business monster. And honestly, I think that’s what most Canadians want right now. The problem is, I’m skeptical that his policies are going to result with everyday Canadians having more of those dollars in their pockets. It might be a lot of sacrifice for little gained.

A potential pipeline is more popular amongst British Columbians today than it was during the last fight with Alberta. But excluding BC from the talks just seems utterly confounding.

It really is ridiculous. When it comes to trade talks, we act as if what’s good for Nutrien is good for Canada. If we’re going to act as if they’re an extension of the Canadian state, the least they can do is the same.

Potash is our most important commodity in any potential trade war escalation. And BC is also where any potential Carney majority government will be won. To me, this is just more proof that Ottawa thinks they can ignore BC.

Also, if it were up to me alone, I wouldn’t provide the Indian government a more favourable trade relationship in exchange for their ability to murder people at the place of worship I grew up going to.

I think that we can pursue a variety of national interests simultaneously. And that we shouldn’t feel particularly beholden or overwhelmed by the Indian government. After all, they also want things from us.
