It makes me hopeful to see the Green brothers (Hank here and John in his tuberculosis book) articulate this point for a broad audience, when ten years ago it wasn't something I heard people even mention unless they were disabled or chronically ill themselves.
The RFK Jr. version of health, where health creates health and healthy people don't get sick and the thing that keeps you healthy is /living the right way/ is very seductive to a lot of people. It also places the burden of illness back on the ill, which decreases the value of human life.

This is why I still think that the internet, not the issues, are the root cause of this culture war. People (including journalists…who are people) imagine the loudest, angriest positions as default positions because those are the ones that get eyeballs in an ultra-competitive attention economy.

One of the worst things about the left leaning social media experience is this idea that shouting at each other about politics is not only a public service, but such an important one that it's a crime to do anything else.
I saw someone criticizing a very funny poster for making jokes instead of posting about politics, and I am reminded of a favorite line from E. B. White: We should strive not for balanced books but balanced libraries

Repeat after me: "I get why you don't trust X, but why *do* you trust Y?" Say it in every situation that involves any conspiracy theory, science denial, or any other variety of gullible skepticism.
