I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be a Visiting Fellow at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel in Spring 2026! Looking forward to doing research at this incredible library that I’ve admired for a long time.

It’s been such a pleasure to lecture at the Tokyo University of the Arts and Waseda University this past week. I’m deeply impressed by the intellectual curiosity and hospitality that I’ve encountered here, and hope I’ll return to Japan someday. Arigato gozaimasu!

I’m thrilled to have been awarded a three-year grant from the Icelandic Research Fund for the project “Modernist Music in Iceland, 1945-1980.” I look forward to exploring how modern music made its (often highly controversial) entry into Iceland in the post-WW2 era. Stay tuned!

Grateful! Nominated for the Icelandic Book Award for my book about the exiled musicians who fled the Nazis to Iceland in the 1930s. The English version, Music at World’s End, will be published by SUNY Press on January 1st.
