So proud of my Emerson teammates, and so happy to work with them, to try to help feed families who are really struggling right now.
If we don’t all help take of our neighbors right now, who will?
It must be us!

So grateful to be able to go to a game with friends who have been a huge part of my life for five decades!

Immigrants have always made our country stronger.
Immigrants have always made our country safer.
Immigrants have fought, and died, for our freedoms and our democracy.
Immigrants are never the enemy- they are our true heroes and patriots.

This is what ICE has done to our city: the press now feels they need to wear bulletproof vests to do their job

ICE in Chicago- tear gassing babies.
This is who they are.
This is what they do.
Do not look away…

Faceless, heartless, soulless ghouls.

We are business leaders, lawyers, doctors, educators, nonprofit executives and leaders from the faith community.
We are Democrats and Republicans.
We are very different and diverse people, but we are all #UnitedForChicago.
We all love our city, and we are committed to making ICE leave Chicago!

We have a chance to have the safest year here in 60 years!
Not close a mission accomplished moment- we still have a long way to go- but our collective progress in increasing the peace is profound and powerful.
The only way to keep getting safer is to stay in the streets.

Leadership!
Love thy neighbors

We must take of each other, and together defeat Trump’s cruelty with compassion, kindness and generosity.

A year ago, one of our Breakfast Club members had a heart attack on the court, and was saved by our teammates doing CPR.
We gathered to celebrate the anniversary of him still being with us!

What do we do when it’s not necessarily safe for children to walk around the community trick or treating?
We bring the fun (and candy) to their blocks!

Truly inspiring to have the Obama Scholars visit @chicagocred.bsky.social today, and be in real community with our participants.
These young leaders are from Chicago, and from around the world.
Our young leaders were teachers and learners today- both groups give me so much hope for the future!

Two questions:

1.) Is this a good use of our tax dollars?

2.) Would you rather have these poor guys walking around all day- incredibly bored with nothing to do- or continue to feed 42 million Americans who are about to lose their SNAP benefits?

Trump is always equal parts performative and cruel.

ICE and mass shooters are having the same impact on schools and school children…

Little Village this morning…

Dear Trump supporters:
Do you support this?
Do you want this level of violence unleashed in your community?
In any community in America?
Does anyone deserve this?

ICE in action in our Little Village neighborhood this morning.
Little Village is already leading Chicago’s communities in violence reduction this year- they are down over 70%.

ICE makes no one safer, and all of us less safe.
Their goal is to create violence, pain, trauma and fear.
Incredibly sad…

Chicago’s Little Village this morning.
I can’t begin to describe the devastation ICE is doing to our communities.
Who did they arrest today?

Among others, a high school junior, and a lady who sells eggs.
They are attacking the very fabric that makes our families, and neighborhoods, strong.
