I read The Atlantic a lot, and most of it is good reporting. I'm okay with opinions I don't agree with as well as I do think it's important to have conservative voices.

However as someone who leans socialist and supports workers rights this is a shit take and this article deserves to be ratio'd.

Not only that...the fact that he believes you can just go see a specialist without going to a PCP first, illuminates his privilege. Maybe if I was a billionaire I could just up and call that endocrinologist (well my assistant would of course call) and bypass all that PCP nonsense.

Stunning poetry, Helen. I'm sorry I've been so absent. I hope you are well and remember my visit to your house so fondly. ❤️

outside and the existential threats the outdoors might hold...or them bolting out, like I had been a cruel master for years and finally after years of begging I have now only accidentally left the door open and it may close in moments so they better run like the devil himself was after them. 😂/2x

Yes. And then there is the classic...pet pet....purr purr...pet pet....purr purr...pet pet...viciously attack your hand with teeth and claws. 😂

I also love holding the door open for the cat to go outside which results in either a several minute pause in which they contemplate the merits of going /1

As a meteorologist, I love this verse. It is perfection. What a wonderful union between love and the atmosphere you've painted here. 👏👏❤️❤️

There is a wonderful contrast that comes alive in this piece. The words are both penetrating but also delicate. I love the line "lays like light across her collarbone". Such wonderful imagery. 👏👏❤️

That looks amazing. Definitely would want to swap that recipe...but if we were neighbors I'd rather learn by cooking together!

There are so many times when I've baked something and brought it somewhere and people say "Tell your wife this looks amazing" or "Tell your wife this is delicious". WTF?! 😂

First of all, why you gotta swap recipes with the Mrs, when I cook well too? Stop being sexist. lol

Also I have a son who is of shoveling snow age. lol

become good for so long we forget about how bad it can be. I largely blame the anti-vaxx movement on these diseases being so rare that people don't even understand why we all take them. But, I think, at some point we have to accept that experience isn't the only teacher.

That, at least in the U.S., there is a strong level of denial about our mistakes. American exceptionalism is killer to humility, something we need much more as individuals and as a nation.

And maybe you're right that we needed a good kick in our complacency. It is a strange thing that things 3/

face-to-face anymore also allows us to be more unkind than we would be if we were talking directly. There is a certain anonymity that we can hide behind.

I do agree that there are some people who resign themselves to what they believe is just the norm and don't see a way out, but I still think 2/

Well said. It does feel like there is little time for reflection and deeper though in an age where things move so fast. Our increased connectivity has made it more easy to lose patience with those we disagree and simply move on to the next. I think that so much of our communication isn't 1/

I see Gilligan standing on something. Also the light is correct. You can tell which direction the sun is and the shadows correspond with the sun angle.
