one thing that is readily apparent after returning to the US after some time away is that China has already achieved the civ style cultural victory and is playing past the endgame screen

a less incompetent US admin could counterbalance this but, alas

one interesting observation is that the actual set of countries that do vote by mail looks almost exactly like the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eco... map (with the notable exception of the Nordics but they mostly have equivalents like howtovote.se/voting-by-co...)

did you know that 60-90% of the dairy workforce (depending on the source) in Reggio Emilia consists of Sikhs (primarily from Punjab) and Parmesan production is pretty much only possible because of their work? archive.is/qzlMH

new google regression dropped: sending a specific venue now appears to send a *search* that is context-specific and may resolve to a completely different venue

happened 2x today with maps.app.goo.gl/wqurboP7pS4i... (NYC instead of LA) maps.app.goo.gl/L8cN2jESy6Xx... (CN instead of LA)

Berlin has less than half the population, even if you don't count the commuters (LI is 4x Brandenburg alone)

we've had to rotate our tor keys so the archive.org onion service now lives on archivep75mbjunhxc6x4j5mwjmomyxb573v42baldlqu56ruil2oiad.onion

it's no speed demon but it should generally work! let me know if you run into any issues (game emulation is known to be broken right now FWIW)

just posting this evergreen quote for no reason at all:

“The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.”
