the trick with the DS is if we want to upscale/filter 2D elements and do hi-res 3D at the same time

then again, on something like a SNES emulator, your xBRz filter is going to operate on the final picture. there are some oddities but it's really not a big deal.

ideally you'd upscale sprites after having rendered them, but then you can't, like, upscale a sprite before rotating/scaling it, or do hi-res rot/scale

for sprites it's even worse. they can be individually rotated/scaled, so the graphics would have to be upscaled before the sprite is rendered.

but then, it's not uncommon for games to use several sprites together to build a bigger thing.

I did something similar to detect web proxies, too: hidden field containing a link to the home page. if it gets modified/rewritten, you know the user is using a web proxy.

you: *disable annoying setting*
Win10: nah nah nah, what are you doing. this is dangerous. don't touch the panel. I reenabled this for you. you don't know what this does, don't touch.

this wasn't so much a regression tho, more like me seeing a "random crash cursed bug" and not thinking it could have had already been fixed

I will assert dominance by NOT enjoying the 3D visuals.
