One night in Sept. 1943, my great-grandmother took my grandfather in one arm and his sister in the other and jumped off a train to save their lives. Last summer, I rode the same tracks across Italy to meet the descendants of one of their rescuers. The whole story: books2read.com/stolenheadst...

A favorite part of my job is collaborating with other journalists around the world. My latest Mountain Gazette story was a yearlong challenge that required traveling to five European countries and working in several different languages. It wouldn't have been possible without a lot of help.

Did something new and joined the press pit at a runway show. Great energy, great fits at Denver Fashion Week.

It's Yom HaShoah, a day of remembrance for the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust. This photo is of my great-grandaunt, Beila, and her husband, Wolf Engelard, at their wedding in Belgium in September 1935. They died along with their two daughters, Rachel and Rosa, in Auschwitz.

2/ This week, as we celebrate Passover, 59 hostages remain in Gaza. I'm praying for their return and for the safety of every innocent person suffering from this war. From the Jewish prayer for mourning: May the One who creates harmony up high bring peace to us and to all Israel.

1/ Last week, I visited the memorials for the Nova Music Festival massacre. It's impossible to grasp the scale of the violence until you see what's left from October 7, until you feel the ground shake from the bombs being dropped on Gaza nearby.

2/ One person in the story is my great-grandfather, Joseph (on the left with my grandfather), who survived Auschwitz and several other concentration camps. He was deported from France in September 1942. Of the 1,000 people on his train, only 27 lived to see the end of the war.

1/ Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz and one week since one of the most powerful men in the world performed a Nazi salute behind the presidential seal. I've spent the past year writing a deeply reported and deeply personal story that spans these two periods of fascism...

1/ On a farm in Veigy-Foncenex, France, near the border, is this memorial to the rescuers who smuggled Jews into Switzerland. Realize, in 1940, Jewish refugees in France were called terrorists, animals, violent criminals — the same words Trump uses to describe immigrants in the US.

3/ Now there is evidence suggesting the Yellowstone Club is actively polluting the Gallatin River, a tributary of the Missouri River that is suffering from harmful algae blooms.

New here, so I'll post some recent work. First, my investigation into the Yellowstone Club, a private resort in Montana where ultra-wealthy business leaders and celebrities own homes. I hiked three miles up the Gallatin River where I found wastewater pouring in from the club’s golf course 🧵
