also on closer reading, head traffic engineer says "Whenever we put devices in that shouldn’t be put in, people disrespect them" -- actually NO. DRIVERS disrespect them. Pedestrians are people too and our safety should be prioritized over drivers' comfort and hypothetical bad behavior. IMHO
