Actual expertise in fish, but love nature, birds, trees, wetlands, insects, fungi, kayaks, mammals, astronomy & good writing. Also scared of snakes, and know that's illogical.
@rastasack.bsky.social Good morning. You should tie down your cats tonight or put some sand in their backpacks. The Windy app is giving Southerly gusts to 113km/h overnight on your side.

A present from a client, and gentleman, who I've known for 30+ years.

This is as perfect a side of apple-smoked salmon as I've ever seen. Scottish recipe handed down from father to son. #NewBrunswick #Seafood

Good morning folks!

Work today. Halifax this evening to see a PWHL women's hockey game. Picture photoshopped - dog not that chubby:|

Do you have post-Christmas pictures queued yet Gerry, or do you decide on the fly? I'm waiting on the theme choice, tho more winter ☃️ is good, esp. when it has birds

Good morning!

Cardinals have established themselves in the Valley over the past 15 years. Seem to have come with the grey squirrels. Not numerous, but always a pair or two nearby.

Clear highway to dangerous whiteout and cars not knowing where the road is with zero transition at the 102 Millbrook exit. Yeesh! Truro Big Stop for breakfast. May be awhile

Snowing pretty good right now, but hopefully won't last long.

I must be getting soft in my old age though. Streaming CBC Cape Breton's Info Morning because my son was interviewed briefly (did good). They're playing Christmas music and I almost enjoyed it 😲.

I don't think we were quite that warm today, but maybe.

Lots of brief rain showers and rainbows popping up everywhere today. This one in Kentville, but also had some in New Minas.

Sounds like a productive day over there today

Arrrgh! Purchased an #LG Electric Range 15 months ago, and one of the front burners is now dead! 12 months parts and labour. Could have purchased the extended warranty, but shouldn't have to.

Maybe I'm a grumpy oldish man, but most brands now mean nothing, and we consumers are getting screwed.

Could turn into a dangerous swim down that proverbial Wabbit Hole!

Doggie yesterday. He knew perfectly well I could see him there, without needing to bark.

Work on my business taxes or walk the dog?? Guess who won.

Speaking of handiwork, I just discovered this beauty in the factory wiring assembly of my bedside wall lamp.

Light was flickering when bumped and I thought I should check. Going to check on my wife's side now.

Pleasantly surprised. I haven't read Scott Turow in a while and find I've got things narrowed down to about 5 possible murderers. #booksky

Good morning! Tiptoeing around so we don't wake @rastasack.bsky.social who's still sleeping below deck.

Blue skies yesterday, snowy today. This was supposed melt!🫠

Sheffield Mills, #NovaScotia Community Hall. A classic old building that was originally the community school. Many of these old buildings still stand and are put to good use by communities scattered across the province.

The red ones are warmer :).

Pro tip... always leave the backflap unbuttoned

Good morning all!! Im slow to log on this morning. Feeling blah from flu & covid vaccines yesterday.

Today's picture is from the back of a small owner-operated pharmacy in Berwick (Larry's). About 50 feet across, dated 2025. I think it's fantastic 😊.

Also nice to find an independent pharmacy.

And the pebbles arrayed for the rest of us to see are greatly appreciated by a fellow traveller.

A few of my own pebbles that show up when I turn out my pockets. The wooden box.. an old firewood box that once shipped turkeys.

Favourite scientific name: Placopecten magellanicus - giant sea scallop
