Tbh, I don’t. It’s central government that needs to get better at letting go of real power & trust local leaders in full ✔️
It also seems to me that this statement essentially contradicts what AR said later about “ending the begging bowl culture” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hint: if you want to address the chaos of LG (in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 AND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿), maybe the starting point should be to focus on the way in which govmt(s) devise devo & multilevel governance, as well as the nature of centre-local relations?

Also: English devo/mayoral model is far from perfect. Still lots of disparities in approaches, powers, funding & views on MMs across country. And many areas don’t have/want MMs.

So is it wise to call for the adoption of a model that is still developing & has clear flaws?
