This is a wild, wild ride.

The teal/orange stuff was a bit much, yeah. I don't think I've ever seen that colour ligting in the real world. Mostly on movie posters from 10 years ago. Or Call of Duty adverts.

It did all look beautiful, it just felt a bit distracting. I spent too much time just being impressed by the colours and lighting, not enuogh time just being absorbed in the story.

Yeah, I can't fully put my finger on what it is that feels 'off'. It's clearly actual sets, props and costumes so it really should feel more real, so there's something happening in production. Lightling, colour grading, filters... Somehow looks both beautiful and artificial at once.
December 1, 2025 at 9:45 AM
Yeah, and the fact that was the opening scene of the movie really didn't help. It was quite a jarring way to start the film, on something that looked so 'well that was obviously filmed in a fancy studio'
December 1, 2025 at 9:43 AM
I think it might be down to how it's lit. Other than some natural outdoor lighting in a few scenes, everything else feels very artificial, even when it's all real sets and costumes.

And some scenes very much look like they're shot on The Volume - like all the Arctic stuff. Which make it feel fake.

Could've done with lots more drone shots

I guess LDW aren't one-issue kind of group, unlike LVfW that seem to only exist to push TERF views.

I would imagine as the Green party gets bigger that a similar pressure group will arise within their ranks too, so it will be interesting to see how that gets handled. i.e. Entryism.

I can find plenty of comments from other LibDem groups who don't approve of them, but nothing from official leadership as yet. I imagine I won't though because anyone criticising a TERF just gets piled-on so they probably keep quiet. Which isn't ideal from a party leadership.

OK, I didn't know about her and that group. I'm a Libdem member at the moment, but will be interested to find out why they condone this group.

She seems pretty vile.

And I'm surprised she isn't already blocked on here as I subscribe to several terf blocklists.

Well, I'd argue that 67 does have meaning though. It means 'I know what 67 means' and you're either in that group or you're not.

It's a stupid meaning, sure. But that's why it's a term used by young kids, not adults.
November 28, 2025 at 2:26 PM
It's just a word that almost intentionally doesn't have a meaning, I think. It might have had an origin, but now it's just nonsense for the sake of it.

Maybe it's the Gen Z version of 'WASSSUUUUUP!'. Those were the days.

Yeah, the way that old WB cartoons do. Not censoring it, but acknowledging that things are of its time.

I didn't realise Cell did the content warnings online now. I think last time i went they gave them out before each movie. But this approach is better, IMO.
November 28, 2025 at 2:09 PM
Generally I think the overall certification a film is given should be enough, but that if someone is particularly worried about a certain type of content then that could be contained on the BBFC website info for the film, but I don't think content warnings should display before features by default.

I'm glad the Lib Dems seem to be making it their official policy to be pro-trans though. Whether the people being TERFS in the comments are actually party members, trolls or just bigots, I don't know. But any party publically being pro trans-rights is a good thing, IMO.

I like it, it's so fetch.

But I agree Phoenix Nights is unlikely to be particularly offensive to people. There are far more inapropriate old comedies that are still streaming. I rewatched 'The Thin Blue Line' a while back, and there's a lot worse jokes in there. Homophobic, misogynistic and racist, but it's of its time.
November 28, 2025 at 1:42 PM
I used to be for content warnings, but I've changed my mind. I think they do more harm than good, tbh. If it says 'warning: contains scenes of sexual assault' it doesn't deter people watching and almost primes people it's supposed to be helping - they're even more anxious, waiting for 'that' scene.

I wonder what the point of her giving this interview was. Who does she thinks she's taking to? Who suggested it would be a good idea? Interviews with people like this just baffle me.

They know the risks when they took in the job. It rarely ends well in that career.

Pleased to report it does indeed run nicely on a PS5. And I'm also pleased to report it's a classic 'bad guys standing next to red barrels' game. Which is always fun.
