The love interest in the trashy Victorian romance I’m reading right now is named “Baron Kelso,” so unfortunately all I can picture is this:

Proud of my mentee, Jocelyn Le, for being selected as one of the top 5 undergrad researchers to represent GaTech at the 2025 ACC Meeting of the Minds Symposium. Her work on digital games for advocacy shows us that humanities research matters and makes an impact. urop.gatech.edu/node/841

RIP to the hole on the street outside my apartment that’s been there since I moved in last year. I don’t know how the report I filed with the city of Atlanta last week convinced them to finally fill it (and on a SATURDAY!), but I feel almost godlike in my power having done so.

Happy anniversary to one of the most singular and bizarre experiences of my life: being a balloon handler for the inaugural flight of Monkey D. Luffy in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Today’s neurodivergent dilemma: $15 to get a 20-day supply of my generic ADHD meds which, thanks to shortages, are back ordered for at least a month, or $130 for a 30-day supply of the name brand.

I think this is why I am so encouraging to students, colleagues, and friends: I'm trying to send out into the world the messages that I didn't get. So, here's a reminder for all of us: you can do it. Keep going. Keep falling down. You're not a failure because you failed. (5/5)

Today I experienced a milestone: the first time a graduate student asked me to be their advisor. I feel very fortunate!

It was amazing! I’m in the very back on the right in this photo. It was great to be a part of the King of the Pirates’ crew (and see all the hilarious “Bucket Hat Luffy” memes afterward).

Last year, my partner got the opportunity to serve as a balloon handler in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year, I'm joining him! Today we learned our balloon assignment: Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece! I'm excited to be an "honorary Straw Hat" for Thanksgiving.

After three conferences within the span of a month and one hell of a Halloween (spent dancing in a giant inflatable monster costume for the better part of 3 hours), I am wiped out. Live footage of me for the next few days:

I attended a phenomenal workshop that Dr. Halcyon Lawrence led last month on "Redressing Language Bias in Technical Communication." I am glad that I told her how much it impacted me. It is immensely unfair that she is gone. We still had so much to learn from her.

Attendees at my #SIGDOC23 talk asked me about my method(ology) for analyzing the data from my survey. Here's a snapshot of what that looked like. I coded by hand, writing out keywords and arranging them into groups to see the different categories emerging.

On my way to the SIGDOC conference. See you soon, Orlando!

When you’re out of pumpkin pie spice and you make your own in a pinch but you don’t have labels small enough to fit the tiny glass jar… emoji stickers to the rescue! 🎃🍂🍁

I recently bought a 50-pack of assorted capybara stickers and what I got delivered today is perhaps the best $5 I have spent in quite some time.

Brewer’s discussion of the Neighborhood Union reveals what civil rights activist Ella Baker called the “spadework” of social change, or the hard labor and daily actions that pave the way for structural transformation: street lights, teacher training, utilities, mentoring. #FemRhet23

White and thin women are still centered—literally and metaphorically—in supposedly “size inclusive” fashion advertisements. Note this yoga as where the largest body, a woman of color, is mid-sized. (@cathrynmolloy #FemRhet23 #F3)

If you are like me and get overstimulated by conferences, or if you just need a moment to self-regulate, #FemRhet23 has a quiet room! It’s on the 2nd floor of Cosby (Room 220), through a set of glass doors. Here’s a picture of the space.

I’m at #FemRhet23 this weekend! You might see posts with that hashtag or #TheFeministsAreComing. Here’s a snap from the opening session in Spelman College’s Sisters Chapel.

When I tell you that the Communication & Culture students’ illustrations of the differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 made me feel old today… (images of student work shared with permission from the artists, because of course!)
