The continuity of Bond from Connery to Brosnan was extremely loose anyway. A few villains made repeat appearances early on, and in the 70s and 80s, every couple of films, Bond would remember his wife was killed and he'd be sad for ten seconds.

It's bizarre that anyone would think No Time To Die's ending is problem in this age of constant franchise reboots. The Craig films are their own thing, from start to finish. There's no need to reference them in a new series.
