Oh look at the time! A time to rant about sub par Stern coil stops again!

Somewhere around 2019 Stern made a huge batch of bad coil stops, which went into a lot of pins manufactured at time, including games like Jurassic Park, Elvira's House of Horrors and many […]

These were the first digital pinball displays I remember from my childhood. Seen here in as 8-segments used in Gottlieb System 1 platform. These are VFDs. #pinball #retrotech #display

After Wäinö got his turn during the day, now it's Vallu's turn again. #cats #catsofmastodon

Trying to get work done, but I'm also serving as a cat bed.

Striker Xtreme's goalie is a lot less useless than many people give him credit for. For example in Williams' World cup soccer the goalie just goes back and forth with no other ways to block the ball than to just be there in the right time.

It was only after I […]

Burned 3 hours today debugging a stupid issue on the best* pinball machine in the world. The symptom was that its goalie wasn't catching the ball. If anyone remembers my last repair on it, it was the magnet that actually holds onto the ball last time, or more […]

We have plenty of questionable stuff on the arcade walls. This modified zebra crossing sign is one of my favorites. No idea who the "artist" was, I found it in the building when we were renovating the main arcade room.

For those new to Horst, here he is in all of his glory and on the right is the original SX goalie. #pinball

After replacing the coil, its sleeve and sanding the imperfection from the bushing, the left flipper finally moves freely and returns as it should. This means Buck Rogers is back in the lineup; it was the only machine missing, waiting for its turn as the lounge […]

Took a stab at one project that has been in the back burner for a while now. Buck Rogers had multiple different problems with its left flipper, it randomly got stuck for no apparent reason, until it finally just stopped moving altogether.

The latter was pretty […]

Revenge from Mars' jump ramp has been having issues, typically the symptom being the ramp collapsing from under the ball. It got its wear parts replaced and some other minor tweaks. The difference was very noticeable, now even weaker shots go far enough to register. #pinball #pinrepair #repair

I'm fairly sure the filament is not supposed to be inside the print head like this.

I've seen neat practical tricks in pinball over the years, but I swear nothing has ever topped my reaction to Bram Stoker's Dracula and its Mist multiball start. When started, the game will float a ball across the playfield like magic, while you have another ball […]

Jackbot's right flipper got stuck. The problem was surprisingly the same thing as with Sharkey's shootout that got featured in a video earlier. But unlike with Sharkey, the plungers here were so-and-so, I wouldn't probably replaced them quite yet, but they were […]

Just for the laughs idea. A gumball machine, but it was filled with all the junk balls the arcade produces. Imagine if a Twilight Zone power ball popped out of it!

Can you identify the others in this tub?

Some #softwaregore humor from Flsun S1's firmware. It supposedly has "Advanced AI features", which use its print head mounted cameras to determine if the print job went belly up.

But the small text in the settings menu pretty much says it's useless and you […]

Apollo 13 (Sega, 1995) is a curious beast. With 13 balls, it has the most balls in any serially produced pinball machines ever.

The 13 ball multiball is bit of a gimmick, but everyone seems to love watching it start. Naturally there's also the maintenance aspect […]
