Browsers, in general, are applications that obtain web content from a web server (HTTP, HTTPS, and other supported protocols) that they connect to, whether it's a static or a dynamic content. They are also packed with features that maximize your productivity when you're surfing the web, and one of those features are bookmarks. Bookmarks are a list of your favorite websites that you may often access or that you may archive it for later use, and, depending on the browser, are synchronized across devices and are able to be categorized into groups.

While Microsoft was developing an AI assistant, it started with Bing Chat. It was decent at the time. Then, they rebranded Bing Chat to Copilot, and that was when they started integrating AI everywhere, including Paint, Notepad, and Windows 11. They also introduced a Copilot key on new computers and laptops, and several AI programs, such as Recall on Copilot+ PCs whose NPU is 40 TOPS or higher.

We have earlier mentioned the three stages of the Aptivi rebrand, and Stage 1 was finished on December 31st of the last year. It was a massive update from the start, which involved replacing the old branding and its colors with the new branding and the colors. This affected all sites, applications, and other assets that we have worked on.

We have been working on Nitrocid 0.2.0 since early February of the last year, when we were planning to release it as 0.1.3, which was another patch release on top of the 0.1.0 series. Changes made to the kernel and to the build system led to changing the plan for the release to 0.2.0, which will be released on February 12th.

Linux 6.19 RC5 is now live for developers and curious users to try out. All the interesting changes from performance improvements to bug fixes have been integrated to this release candidate. The official announcement from the kernel mailing list says: Normal release, a couple of hours later than usual, but nothing particularly odd going on the past week. As expected, we're pretty much back to a normal schedule after the holidays, and the stats look very regular, both in number of commits and in the patch.

When Nitrocid 0.1.0 was under development, we implemented the calendar support for both themes and for the regular calendar application. Over time, it had received almost no updates, and we felt that we needed to decouple the base calendar code as it operated independently. As a result, we are introducing you to a new library, Calendrier! Available starting today, Calendar allows you to specify a calendar type and use it easily.

Earlier, Terminaux stored a namespace that provided the color class and its tools, such as color transformation tools. However, very few elements of the Color class have anything to do with Terminaux, and we felt that the class has become so powerful, especially when it comes to conversion and transformation formulas, that we had to create a separate library. As our goal is to make things simpler for developers and users alike, we have managed to start the preparations of decoupling the classes from Terminaux, so that the Color class is no longer exclusive to just Terminaux.

This week, the KDE team has published a list of changes that were done in both KDE Plasma 6.6 and 6.5.5. Visual Studio 2022 17.12 was released on May 12th, 2024, which brought support for .NET 9.0 that was released on the same day. It was one of the long term support releases, which will end this year. Microsoft has set up an end of life date for the Office 2021 office suite. It was released on October 5th, 2021, aligning with the Windows 11 release on the same date to celebrate the new modern era of fluent design. This standalone version of the office suite is purchased under a perpetual license for those who prefer not to use the subscription-based Office 365.

Windows 11 24H2 was a major update to this version of Windows that brought in many exciting features, such as changes to Samba file sharing protocol (SMB), Bluetooth LE support, Wi-Fi 7 support, SHA-3 support, and Rust code in the Windows kernel being added. It was first materialized on October 1st, 2024, for a small number of PCs before gradually extending to more and more computers as Microsoft resolved update blocks for this release.

Nitrocid 0.1.2 was released on February 27th, 2025, to integrate many interesting changes that transformed the experience of our users. It added several features, including the audio cues and startup/shutdown sounds, new themes, multiple variable settings to group individual settings, and Arch Linux and Windows Installer packaging. According to our release support policy, this version of Nitrocid was supposed to only be supported until November 27th, 2025, which means only nine months.

Since Terminaux 4.0, mouse support was added to make C# console applications more interactive. Ubuntu has published the Ubuntu 26.04 Resolute Raccoon roadmap for the next LTS version last November, and the list of changes that will be made to this Ubuntu version is rather surprising. Last year, we have released the tools script on our official GitHub repository to give you a starting point into which will turn to a more modern build tool. This script gave us a very good experience and a hint that build systems aren't limited to commands. Those tools were built to be cross-platform with both Windows, macOS, and Linux.
