You don’t need to map your chuck, you clean it until your lines of marker are just barely touch the same amount over the full area. You wait a little until you kiss the chuck this way and if the result is like in the photo you won’t get it flatter anyway.

So something interesting with using the spin table instead of the U axis is the ease of dialing part concentric since you only need to make them concentric to the spin table instead of aligning the head with the bore. Also the resolution is lot better using the X/Y table with dro.

So we make punchs with a +\-.005 tolerance and our competitors made them .1mm under. So we made them this little go/nogo with a taper gauge section each line is .01mm so they not only know the part is bad but how bad it is.
