Does it count if it happened before the book started? 😂 I read The Traitor and the Wretch and absolutely adored it, and well, it’s right there in the title!

A bit late on this one, but recently I read Don’t Let the Forest In and the narrative and narrator work together to create something amazing.

Galen has long, auburn hair that he ties into a low bun to keep out of his way. He mostly wears it that way because the head of his temple wears her hair that way.
Sasha has short, light brown hair.
Sasha is obsessed with Galen’s hair, which Galen doesn’t really understand.

I’m on vacation, but I took pictures before I left for these prompts!
Amina al-Sarafi’s journey is very fun and an awesome adventure!

In my upcoming novel, The Need for Dandelions, Jess is an important side character who is nonbinary, using they/them! They are a childhood friend of Galen, one of the MCs, and a chaotic force for good. They are a lot of fun to write and a favorite of my beta readers!

I don’t read nearly as much nonfiction as I would like, but I really enjoyed Once Upon a Tome by Oliver Darkshire!
I’ve been trying to branch out into nonfiction more, and this memoir about antiquarian book selling sounded fun! (and it was!)

For Fantasy Romance:
1. T. Kingfisher - her blend of humor, heart, and world building
2. Freya Markse - cool magic systems with wonderful characters
3. Seth Haddon - magic and plots flow seamlessly with romance
4. Foz Meadows - once again, good blend of world building and romance

I am going to be recommending this to so many people. I dearly love Percy and Knell.

At the start of Sweet & Wild, Micah definitely does not see himself as worthy of the type of love that Terran has to offer. Over the course of the story, Micah learns that he is worthy of that love, and so many other kinds of love. 💛

For epic sapphic fantasy, more people should really read the Unspoken Name. The worldbuilding and magic system of this book, and its sequel, are so cool and the characters are incredible. I loved these books so much, and more people should read them!

The Spear Cuts Through Water was a fantasy book that stole my breath away. Its narrative style is so unique and compelling, and the story itself ripped out my heart in the best way possible.

I read The Nickel Boys this year and it truly gave a window into the horrific abuse that so many young black men suffered in “reform schools.” It’s a brutal read, but one I think is necessary. Also, it’s so beautifully written, it makes your heart ache
