Scrolling on tumblr after Thanksgiving dinner and unfortunately, these two memes have sparked the idea for a character which has sparked the idea of a story and we all know what happens here.

Galen has long, auburn hair that he ties into a low bun to keep out of his way. He mostly wears it that way because the head of his temple wears her hair that way.

I finished Jingle Jingle Kill by @cquince.bsky.social while on the airplane and I have to say, it is an absolute blast! It felt like watching a spy action thriller with plenty of festive flair.

It comes out December 9th, and you should check it out for your December TBR!

Sasha turned to look at them, and the look in their eye was something very sharp and very deadly. Sasha nearly staggered back at it, but he held their gaze. Jess crossed their arms in front of their chest and looked up at Sasha with enough fire in their eyes to set the city ablaze. “Let’s get one thing straight, Sasha Rider. I don’t have to help you. In fact, I’d rather not help you,” Jess said, words thrown out at him like daggers. “However, Galen seems to believe that you’re trying to do better and be better. But the way you’ve been acting towards him for the past month? One fucking apology isn’t going to fix that.” “Look—” “I wasn’t done,” Jess said, holding up a finger. “Galen may have an abnormal threshold for rudeness, but I don’t. I’m happy to leave you here wandering the city until you lose your stupid job. I was just doing Galen a favor, not you. But if you’re going to be rude to me? Farewell, and bad luck to you.” Jess gave Sasha a sarcastic little bow, and started to turn away, but Sasha grabbed their shoulder. Jess whipped around so fast that their long braid flicked against Sasha’s face. They lifted a brow, looking at Sasha with suspicion. Sasha took a deep breath and steadied himself. “I apologize for being rude,” Sasha said.

I don’t read nearly as much nonfiction as I would like, but I really enjoyed Once Upon a Tome by Oliver Darkshire!
I’ve been trying to branch out into nonfiction more, and this memoir about antiquarian book selling sounded fun! (and it was!)

They do! Blink Foxes look much like normal foxes, except they are blue and white instead of orange, brown, or all white. They can teleport short distances!

At the start of Sweet & Wild, Micah definitely does not see himself as worthy of the type of love that Terran has to offer. Over the course of the story, Micah learns that he is worthy of that love, and so many other kinds of love. 💛

For epic sapphic fantasy, more people should really read the Unspoken Name. The worldbuilding and magic system of this book, and its sequel, are so cool and the characters are incredible. I loved these books so much, and more people should read them!

I read The Nickel Boys this year and it truly gave a window into the horrific abuse that so many young black men suffered in “reform schools.” It’s a brutal read, but one I think is necessary. Also, it’s so beautifully written, it makes your heart ache
