@MelloniDev oh yeah i think they like redid basically the whole drawing tablet thing recently in their ongoing effort to redo all the outdated things in plasma. its like..._really_ good now.

this substance painter thing’s actually pretty easy as it turns out

okay well its been implemented

and after like two hours of fighting with nvidia drivers it works too!

(also learning #substancepainter! i have no idea what i’m doing yet but i already like it more than blender’s texture painter lol)

turns out the unplug it and let it reset thingy actually was the move, i just didnt unplug it for long enough

although once again, #linux peeps of mastodon, if someone knows why this happens i'm very curious. it seems to just happen whenever i update windows.

i'm tempted to try updating to fedora 43, but i guess i probably should run memtest86 before doing that just to make sure my EXPO config is correct.

and i probably also should mention

symptoms

* grey screen on startup with only a loading indicator (starts pretty early in the boot process on just the primary monitor, near to the end goes away and then comes back at a higher resolution on all monitors)

oh and also i updated my kernel (which started this whole adventure because the new kernel wasn't working with the old microcode).

btw

things that happened in between it working and not working

* i updated windows (it forced me)
* i updated the bios (needed this bc amd microcode bug or something)
* the bios update cleared my bios config so i had to set it all back up again (might not be exactly the same as before) […]

so uhhh... to all the #linux experts of mastodon
