Yikes, mine was discussing the NG shot in DC, a young woman who enlisted straight out of high school, just as I did.

I have the dubious honor of having never been fired or laid off. The longest vacation I've ever had, since I started working at 17, was my 2 week honeymoon. For years I worked 6 day weeks. We have crazy deadlines that sabotage every holiday, and now, as a BIM manager, I'm on them all.

Growing up on an island in the center of the pacific ocean, I once considered the airline industry as a career option. I'd honestly be a fricking RAGE monster if I was embedded in that industry, now.

Partly this has to do with the airline industry today. I've experienced the cancellations, delays, reservation f-ups and it triggers untold frustration in me. Stop the games and make this shit WORK.

And I LOVE travel - I love immersing myself in a new place. I take local transit, I research places to eat, I go to local museums, the whole 9 yards.
But the thought of doing that again - NOW, is frankly a non-starter

I once taped up a broken water main after looking it up in one of those books my mom kept after my dad passed.
The plumber was impressed that I'd done exactly what he would have done in that emergency.
