I have to take a quiz on Title IX policies and they are almost exclusively applicable to campus undergrad life. Sure, I should know them, but my first instinct is to stop reading and move on. It's going to be a long 2 year degree at this rate.

expect jealousy for your attention from your current pack.
stabilize their routine as much as possible. socialize them as much as you can. car rides are fun for them even if they don't go inside.

give them time. It will take a few days for them to show improvements on fear, timidity, etc. Or longer. It will take a week for them to see your place as their home and a month for them to feel safe. expect accidents. expect food sensitivities and perhaps guarding if they have been hungry.

They are. Mine is a free standing range from 1981 with a pilot light and I've replaced the igniter exactly once. I've moved it twice. I feel very grateful

It is hard. But remember this: "busyness" is a trauma response. Everyone is worthy. Even of rest. Even without productivity. I am not so good at this radical acceptance thing, but in the instances where I've managed it... oh shit it's powerful.

Alternatively, you can blind bake a crust and fill is with Bon Mamman lemon curd for the same effect, although I think the orange gives it more depth of flavor.

Set the bowl or double boiler pot over boiling water and whisk continuously until you have a thick cream. Now whisk in a stick of unsalted butter (cold), that has been cut into cubes. Pour into fully baked, cooled crust. Put in fridge

Juice four to six lemons and 1 to two oranges and zest them. Amount depends on size of pie dish and juiciness of fruit. Then, in a double boiler, wisk five eggs with 2 cups of sugar and the juice and zest. And a teaspoon of salt.
