Being opposed to a government committing genocide on an entire group of people is always antifascist.

To be clear, I don't think trump is a fascist. Rather, he cares only about increasing his own power and swaying popular opinion to the point that he will happily cozy up to fascists for it. This includes applying the label of fascist if he thinks he'll gain power/support from doing so.

I hope it's a sign that he's getting desperate and attempting to wink towards his main support base rather than a sign that he's emboldened to the point that he realizes he can openly identify as a fascist without consequences.

Are people actually surprised that someone who has done so much to normalize fascism wouldn't mind the label of "fascist" being applied to himself? Are we watching two different videos here? I see trump continuing to normalize fascism, if you see that act as "likeable" it means it's working.

Keep in mind that trump genuinely thinks nazism is a type of socialism as well.

We might also remind journalists on how to effectively report on these groups - crucially not doing the neo-Nazis' promotional work for them.

I think they are under the impression that starving them of oxygen does something other than simply handing them a platform, yes.

Mainstream media could better spend their time making sure far-right voices aren't the only perspective on topics like their visit to Portland.

It's really not that exceptional and it's called the bystander effect. The good news is that by seeing this now and thinking through what you would say or do in this situation, you increase the likelihood of intervening in a positive way when something similar happens near you.

If anyone knows of an affordable support group for trans and nonbinary sa survivors instead of the usual ones segregated based on gender, please let me know so I don't feel the need to complain on bluesky like this.

I guess I bring this up because asking me or other people who have lived through sexual assault in our teenage years to have some kind of thoughtful take, or calmly debate weather minors can consent, or join the conversation at all is unrealistic. HMU when you're willing to do more than talk.

I think these conversations need to be had, and it isn't possible to ask for a content warning on every new take and bit of information of course. It's just hard to stay informed and use social media like I usually do. IRL I've asked people to change the subject before and had the request ignored.
