No doubt the DOGE effort is reducing the number of quality data inputs for the GFS model (and therefore degrading the outputs), but the problems with the GFS have existed for longer. Most of the time it trails behind the ECMWF and CMC models. Its performance also seems worse in summer. Here’s 6/20:
