This is the right approach. Big tech will also pursue self-regulation that suits them. AI is an opportunity to address the imbalance between tech giants and their competitors, so competition law needs to be part of the regulatory approach.

Would love to see Australia adopt this. There are plenty of tech solutions banks could use to reduce scam losses, but until it’s hurting their bottom line they won’t bother.
