Hungary wasn't shouting her country's name... she just wants a carb!

There were a few back in the 90s and early 2000s, it was certainly and interesting time to by a car enthusiast. And if course those vehicles proved to be quite sturdy considering how many have survived. I still see plenty of Conquests/Tazzes on the road every day.

Is the Nova not South Africa's own Toyota Conquest? Another long lived model in this market, lasting till the 2000s as the Tazz. en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?...

I'm always surprised when I see one of these about town after all these years. A friends mother had one for years. Sadly, while the engine was still going strong, rust (the scourge of living near the coast) eventually laid waste to the suspension.

Well, this can go in the "dream cars that should have been built" garage I have in my head along with these two 💁🏻‍♂️

I've got them in my 2024 Suzuki SPresso, and had them in my first few cars too. Having rolled a car while using Kumfy-Kilps, I can confirm that they don't actually hinder the proper operation of the seatbelt at all.

Morning Rich, happy Sunday to you! May the scaries stay away from your door 😁🙌🏻

Yes, they definitely didn't go completely conventional, although the creases and gaping front end seem to be part of Hyundai's current brand identity.

The Atos, in it's second body style, was hugely popular in South Africa. There are still a large number on the roads. A new Atos was launched here in 2019. Not as quirky as the original, but also seemed to be quite popular. It was discontinued here in 2023.

A nice little cameo by the car that was the highlight of my trip the Beaulieu. "Gumdrop" the Austin Heavy 12/4, the star of Val Biro's books and my dream car for so much of my childhood.
