For me it was the opposite perspective which was equally as sad. The shitty town that you had your fondest memories in slowly fading away. The people you knew and loved leaving and moving on to better things.

I can agree that it's not part of the movie that they face any other repurcussions of what they do but that has more to do with it being a slap-stick cartoon more than, I feel, the movie is making excuses for cops. I mean they aren't even officers for most of the film.

Ok but consider why he does any of that. Nick is going along with Judy because he's actually afraid of being alone. In the story he'd rather not be doing anything related to the plot, he's only there because Judy is there. Nick is barely relevant to the plot. It's sad even tho I like the movie.

First time not being at a con has been such a gut-punch.

Ok but to be fair. That's just Nick and Judy. Bogo literally reprimands them and takes them off police duty for that. What you're pointing to is, imo, the point and part of the reason why the other teams despise them. They don't follow the rules and continue to get attention and praise.

I just don't see that. Clearly the Mayor knew so no excuse, but I don't think the other officers wanted Nick and Judy dead, nor did they know what the evil plan was. It's certainly annoying that no one was interested in the Lynx's plot before all this but I mean that's how they wrote the movie idk.

I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Judy is so selfish throughout the whole film, and Nick has no motivation to do anything and it makes him look like a giant lazy asshole.

I think the criticism is that Nick doesn't do anything or have anything that motivates him personally. Judy wants to go to the Gala, Judy wants to help Gary. Judy also doesn't do anything to help Nick in the same way, and never really atones for suicidally charging into danger and ignoring him.

I don't really feel the same way. Do we celebrate Tommy Lee Jones when he finally figures out Harrison Ford isn't the bad guy? Not really. Same for Zootopia 2. That the police are just doing their job and it's not part of it to figure out who's really a secret asshole is part of the fugitive troupe.
