Could be a number of things: vaping, covid, staring at phones in a sedentary/solitary lifestyle, more testing, changes in drug use patterns, complications of a different new virus, environmental factors, etc.

I have met a lot of dumb people who have amassed money and power. I have met people with bad intentions. I have met cowards and lazy people. (I have also met deserving people) I just don’t understand how we got here.

No. Really?

I did not initially realize what I waded into.

I submit. I retract my smartass comment.

If a US man with a billion dollars of untaxed capital gains takes a loan against his wealth, he can spend the principal of the loan freely without paying taxes. Upon death, the heirs receive his fortune with reset basis and repay the loan - all tax free. Capital gains of the wealthy are never taxed

As to distance driven, read the Grapes of Wrath. Tom Joad’s drive to California has more in common with the Oregon Trail of the 1800s than getting your kicks on Route 66 of the 1950s/1960s.

That generation had lead pipes for drinking water in some places, and exposure to lead soldering or industrial lead in certain jobs. Not like the 60s/70s level of mass exposure.

There were about 6 cars for every 100 Americans in 1920 to be exact.

In talking to my elders, I don’t think many things in their houses were painted. Some things outside were whitewashed, but the chemical industry was not nearly as prolific as it became post WW2

The greatest generation was born in the 1910s and 1920s. A much larger portion lived in non urban areas. If you didn’t live in NYC, there were like 10-100 cars in town when they were kids, and those cars did not drive far.

But also, we are going to open a full investigation from the top DOJ office on three small players. (all players are bad in my personal view)

Also, why symmetrical?

I don’t even know why a rational person would put half that stuff in writing, even to a best friend.

It is one thing to send out a press release / tweet about unspecified consequences for an unnamed officer. It is another thing to actually punish a real officer in real life.

Don’t you drink the whole container (ex-ice) either way?

To be fair, we got here in 1776 because the Brits in charge in Boston were not keen on due process.

The same amount of alcohol goes into the mixing container either way.

If you are going to post that, you have to post the cover from last week about how HOT we are.
