I am older, NOT OLD... I hope. Been playing since the 2600 and I'm now on Switch 2 and PS5... and other stuff. Retired teacher and someone who reads too much. Not Retro, but Classic.
OK. I'm gonna start Dragon Quest next-- but which one. I recently acquired the 2 HD2D games, and I got 7 when it dropped. So which one do I start first. I supposed I'll start with the first one, which is DQ3--huh. 🤔*Voice from afar "Play RE1 since 9's coming"* Yeah, never played those (or DQ 3&7).😢

So as I wrote before, I got Play Action Football and Skate or Die.

I remember renting SoD back in the day and having a bit of a hard time since I did not know how to play the darn thing, and I still don't know. It was fun though.

PAF is lousy, slow and complicated. I prefer Tecmo Bowl much more..

Got my latest Video Games Monthly...not happy with it. Decided to take a chance and added GBA.

NES-Skate or Die - cool
NES-Play Action Football - meh (not Tecmo Bowl)
GBA-Monster Trucks, Wild Thornberry's Movie, Beach Bandits - no, just no

I'll try them, but I'll likely sell them, if I can.

Hmm.. Bus Simulator 21, the game where you are the bus, prowling through the streets for teens and office workers to send to other worlds to do... other world things. I think.

*click's on YouTube feed*

Wait, a game where I get to show up my nearby city's lousy public transit system? Cool. 😎🚍

StarVaders? No video link... what are you afraid of StarVaders?

Oooo, mechs. I like mechs.

Space Invaders-like. Well, I do happen to like Space Invaders.

Card builder?--ew!

Wait! Looks like a tactics RPG... hmm

Grrr, FINE! I'll give it a try... later (still working on FFV).

HumbleBundle Choice updated today.

1. Resident Evil Village: *making happy sounds*
2. Date Everything: huh--heard it was good, but huh
3-6. Core Keepers, Starvaders, Big Helmet Heroes, Bus Simulator 21: don't know these
7. SteamWorld Build: cool
8. Squirrel with a Gun: no, I'll keep it, but no

It turns out there's a boom for CD's and Vinyl. I did not realize it was actually a thing. I was just buying them because
1. Vinyl sounds better
2. CD's are cheaper to obtain,
3. I want to replace my lost media,
4. Collections,
5. When digital dies, I'll own my own music,
6. In my case, nostalgia.

Been playing Final Fantasy V (blame Grinding Gear). I once started it when I got one of the PS1 collections, but never finished.

I'm playing it now with the Pixel Remake edition, and I have to agree that it is actually quite good. 👍

Not great like VI (it's the best one (shut up it is)), but good.

Got my Evercade NeoGeo Arcade 2 and 3 carts. They FINALLY arrived from Amazon.

Worth the wait? Yes and no. Since I owned them but had just not gotten them, I can safely say that I uploaded the ROMs for many of the games (King of Fighters '97, Metal Slug X,
Fatal Fury 2, for example). Great fun. 🙂

Today, I received used copies of Moving Pictures and Counterparts by Rush. I'm in the process of checking to see if Moving Pictures is working correctly (did not look great, but was assured it worked), but so far so good.
👍

Counterparts was in better shape, so here's hoping. 🤞

Wow, I did not realize so many game franchises had anniversaries this year. I did not realize Metroid, Castlevania, Kid Icarus and Zelda turn 40 this year. 😔

-Halo, Pikmin, Animal Crossing - 25 yrs
-Diablo, Quake, Tomb Raider, Pokemon - 30 yrs
-Sonic is 35
-Donkey Kong is 45 (I was 7 yrs old)

I'm a big fan of Rush. I've been working on getting their CD's, cassettes and vinyl. My own collection was lost (CD's) or destroyed (tapes). The CD front is going well, but the other two are harder due to availability, condition or price.

Today, I got Test for Echo on tape. 🙂 Yes, I'm old... -er. 😉

Finally, ordered last October from Amazon, I finally received my copy of Evercade Arcade #19 - NeoGeo Arcade 2...

Am I happy, sad, angry? Yes. Took forever, but it's here and in my hand... and now it's on my desk so I can type some more.

Sigh of relief... Except now I have to wait for Arcade 3.

OK, I played Parasite Mutant and I liked it. 👍

1-It does indeed play similarly to Parasite Eve and have many PE quirks.
2-It is very much a work in progress. It needs to spend a bit more time to cook.
3-It is it's own game in regards to atmosphere and potential story at this point, which is good.

Overwhelmed!!! in a good way

I just got physical copies of Wildermyth, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, and Cyberpunk 2077 for Switch! Along with a whole bunch of digital titles for Switch and Steam, my backlog is far too great and I'll never complete it in my lifetime.

It's a great problem to have though. 👍

Played Atari Caverns of Mars: Recharged and really enjoyed it. I've never played the former Caverns of Mars (for Atari 800 & 2600). This one also reminded me of another fall down a cavern game where shooting is used to help maneuver, Downwell.

Caverns of Mars: Recharged > 4 of 5
Downwell > 4.5 of 5

I just found out about this Parasite Mutant game that will become out this year... maybe... hopefully... 🤞

I saw some gameplay and it does seem to play like Parasite Eve, one of my most favorite games. So I'm excited and hopeful. Got the demo, so we'll see.

Ho hum... post birthday and holiday blues. Except for a few Namco Museum games I played for a few minutes, I've not played much past couple of weeks...

Oh, I did become even older... ⏳

And I also got my special education teaching license (this is good). 🎉

Never grow old, young ones... 👨‍🦳

-Etrian Odyssey II (got it on DS, solid) 👍
-Metal Slug Tactics (hmm)
-Sonic Frontiers (been wanting that one)
-HUNT 1896 (hmm)
-fishing & Settlement Survival 🤔

New stuff from Video Games Monthly! While not super excited by what I got, I'm happy with what I got. 🙂

-Rescue: The Embassy Mission (never played, but John Riggs approved 👍)
-Breakout (never played)
-Air Sea Battle (never played)
-Canyon Bomber (owned and enjoyed in my youth)

And Happy New Year!

Ecstatic by this find. Was cleaning closet looking for my lost Gameboy carts when I found this instead! Fully functional, game cart battery still works, just missing device back battery cover. No need for a ModRetro Chromatic now. 🙂

Collections? Of course I love them, like the Cowabunga one, Castlevania (are they up to 3 of those), Contra, Konami arcade, SaGa FF Legends, Mana, Sonic Origins, XCOM and more. Worthy classics.

Newer games? I wait for the price to lower, only for them to turn into classics/bundles/collections. 🙂

It's here! 🎉My replacement cart from Video Games Monthly. Not the greatest, but a fun one and I'm happy nonetheless. 🙂

As I mentioned previously, I got a duplicate copy of Super Breakout from Video Game Monthly. I was bummed, since I had indicated to them that I had this game. I contacted them, after explaining, they said that the error was theirs. Getting a replacement and I can keep Super Breakout. Good service. 👍

NES Game reviews -
~Captain Skyhawk-meh, loose and janky on the controls, making it harder than it needs to be
~Pipe Dream-OK, takes a bit to figure out and no clue how to win, only survive, might get fun
~TMNT 2-fun, but takes a bit to get used to again on NES, especially after playing on Switch
