We need to start understanding these as related acts, and that the unhinged shouting both has serious consequences and is an indicator of the perpetrator’s likelihood to commit more violent acts, just the way we have come to understand the seriousness of things like upskirting.

Two days ago, I was cycling along London Road when the driver of a car behind me leaned on the horn, passed me closely, and his passenger shouted, "oh my god, ride me instead." I then watched him speed off and swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid me catching up to him. #sheffieldroadviolence

A man driving a sprinter van tailgated me down a narrow, residential street. He was honking, revving the engine and shouting out the window. It was dark I had nowhere to get away from him. He was right behind me and I genuinely thought he was going to hit me. #stopmotorviolence

Ooh! does anyone have info about implementing these in cities with trams? There are some terribly long waits in Sheffield and I can imagine the trams would be used as a reason not to, given the mazes of pedestrian barriers and hostile paving that surround the tracks.
