Incredible scenes as we slide from January into February and realise that yet again it's Monday night (and it's 5pm) so it MUST be time for Episode 4 of 'How light is it in #Orkney at 5pm this week?'

We are NOT making this up.

IT REALLY IS THIS LIGHT 💡

'Kirkwall Fair.' (1888) Although Arthur Melville was not regarded as one of the Glasgow Boys, he was seen by them to be a kindred spirit. A year after painting this work on Orkney, he left Edinburgh and settled in London, although he often returned to Scotland to paint.

If X equals bluesky
Then I'll give it a try,
Many followers have defected
And now I have reconnected.

Hoping for better days ahead
Working from my garden shed,
Inspiration is all I need
Then all my followers will take heed.

Not quite a sonnet.
