WH40k fan (especially Horus Heresy) hampered by my inability to paint.

Lover of 40k novels, sci-fi, and romantasy. I buy LOTS of ebooks, so please feel free to recommend some!

Pfp artwork taken from a pic by mydinh on DeviantArt. Looking for a new one.
I love this movie so much.

I'm definitely a cryptid: rarely sighted, all photos of me are terrible, and those who claim to have interacted with me in real life are dismissed as crackpots.

Username definitely checks out.

I wish I could hit "like" on this more than once, because I just saw the trailer and had the exact same thought.

A "Q Drop" is one of those posts.

On 4chan, someone claiming to be a secret government informant with Top Secret Q-level access to everything (and so given the nickname "Q" or "QAnon") made a series of cryptic posts a few years ago purporting to give clues to Trump's plan to defeat the Satanic Pedophile Deep State.

And I just realized I wrote "bolter born" instead of "bolter porn". Ugh.

Though now that I think about it, "bolter born" sounds like something a non-Sororitas member of the Ecclesiarchy would use when addressing a Space Marine.

Can BE.

The Siege of Terra books can pretty exhausting even if you like bolter born, though.

The later books are a bit less battle focused than the early ones (though it never goes away entirely, because In The Grim Darkness Of The Far Future There Is Only Etc Etc Etc), mainly because GW decided to stretch things out so there's a LOT of space to fill between the iconic battles.

Okay, as a fan of the Blue Rose RPG, this is the coolest thing ever.

Romantasy is still big, and I love it!

I was thinking about the steampunk subgenre, though. Though looking through my books, steampunk romantasy still seems to be somewhat popular, even if regular (I almost said "straight"!) steampunk is kind of out of fashion these days.

I want to be able to write for myself, just to get it out of my head.

But I'd also really like it if something I wrote was read and liked by someone else too!
December 9, 2025 at 12:35 AM
It wasn't you! I just looked at what I wrote and had an attack of "I don't have a single creative bone in my body, all I can do is badly imitate" anxiety.

I actually really appreciate you giving me feedback here!

This is dumb. What am I even doing?

Never mind.

I can make him a clerk instead!

Really, the important thing is that he somehow has it together enough to help Our Heroine at the start and during her character arc, while still being enough of a hapless dork that she has to rescue him all the time.

No vampires or werewolves, though. They can wait for the sequel.

Sort of a Downton Abbey meets Reanimator and Frankenstein by way of Pygmalion thing, featuring Palamedes Sextus from "Gideon the Ninth", because I had a big crush on him when I read that book.
December 8, 2025 at 11:37 PM
Hmmm...

I need to rework the love interest, then, since he's currently a dashing yet dorky and scholarly nobleman who falls for Our Heroine, a mysterious clockwork girl who may have murdered a bunch of people because she was kind of angry that they partly made her from the remains of a dead woman.

But steampunk is cringe now! What am I gonna do? 😭
