These are actually Classical Tibetan spellings that reflect a much earlier pronunciation, which has undergone quite a lot of changes in most Tibetan varieties.

There is language called Wutun in Gansu surrounded by Amdo Tibetan and some Mongolic languages. Its lexical base seems to come from a Mandarin variety brought there by Chinese soldiers, but it has no tone and developed a morphology similar to Tibetan.

I think there are some minor errors in the romanisation and translation of (a) and (b). "At" should be yú rather than yù, the translation of jì may be "as well as, also" rather than "already". The use cǐ in (c) is very literary and outdated in the oral language, but since the book is from 1977,

qú should be an error since in the original text in 论语 both are 其 qí, but i don't know if it is grammatically incorrect to use both qú and qí in this sentence

Both can be interpreted as "right now" or "habitually, regularly", but 正在 is more likely to be interpreted as the former if no context is provided.

rGyalrongic languages colexify 'drink' and 'smoke' too, and the North Horpa variety also uses 'drink' for consuming food in general. But for consuming specific types of solid food 'eat' is used.
In some Tibetan varieties 'thung 'drink' is also used for smoking, though my Tibetan teacher insists...
