Opinionated feminist bisexual anti-racist troublemaker. Suddenly into genealogy. A bit cultish about a few things. In Pittsburgh, where the air makes it hard to breathe, and from Perry, NY.
I poked around a bit before realizing there was probably some setting I didn’t know about. Interesting for it to be people they follow and not vice versa.

Oh, well, you know me: public opinionator.

but a grim “Yep, thought so.” Of course it turned out he was doing worse than I’d suspected, even though I’d seen those red flags. Did Cassandra feel personal vindication? I felt some relief that the community now knew the truth and that he was being stopped from doing more harm.

I agree that expecting authors to be somehow perfect or to fully align with our beliefs is unreasonable. It’s also entirely human to find that one feels differently about their work, knowing more about them. Engaging with the complexities of human writers is part of engaging with their writing.

I see why he's getting roasted. Until today, I had never heard of him.

...and I do know it's difficult for some parents. especially if they didn't have the experience themselves, as children.

When my kindergartener's school librarian said "You can tell he's been read to", my heart broke. Granted I owned a bookstore and grew up in a house full of books, being read to by both parents in the '70s (we watched tons of tv, too), but reading with a kid is for me kind of the point of having one.
