🛡️ It's dangerous to go alone, take this! ⚔️
Since 2023, I've been working on a collection that explores what the Legend of Zelda video games can teach us about psychology, social science and our environment. Our collection is available open-access here: playstorypress.org/books/the-ps... #videogames

Oooh- if only someone could submit an application with prominent environmental social scientists and writers who are working to promote societal transformation, like @lwhitmarsh.bsky.social, Mikalah Loach, @wanderinggaia.bsky.social and Saffron O'Neill 🫣 www.metoffice.gov.uk/forms/name-o...

Really enjoyed taking part in the panel discussion earlier today on Feminist Metascience at #Metascience2025! In the panel I spoke about epistemic diversity and intellectual humility. We need to be considering voices that are quieter in these discussions- it shouldn’t be a battle to be heard here.

Finally en route to #Metascience2025 in London with our Open Science Retreat Zine and plenty of stickers (also designed together at the retreat) in tow! Come find me to get some, or attend our feminist Metascience panel tomorrow 🔥 Really looking forward to seeing all my open research pals 💪

Also if you want to hear the struggles qual folks have, and the opportunities they see in open research, you can check out our preprint on this here: osf.io/preprints/so... We did a survey of 163 management scholars and report their perspectives here:
November 3, 2024 at 11:07 AM
We also had an article included in the same special issue he references, further outlining the complications surrounding open qual data, and making suggestions for how qual folks can handle that tension, you can read that here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....
November 3, 2024 at 11:03 AM
The challenge of applying universal principles to qual are epistemological in nature: quant (generally) shares one epistemology of positivism- and qual research operates from a variety of epistemologies- you can read more about that here: bpspsychub.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Conversations about open qual are kicking off in the other place- and not for good reasons 😓 There’s a lot of great work being done by qual folks interrogating how, why and when open research is appropriate, and to see that growing work ignored by a prominent figure in open science is frustrating. 😓
